1. Project Background

Qingming Shanghe Garden scenic area is located in Kaifeng, the ancient capital of eight dynasties. It is a large Song-dynasty historical and cultural theme park rebuilt as a 1:1 reproduction based on the famous Chinese painting “Along the River During the Qingming Festival”. History made Kaifeng, culture made the garden famous.

Since officially opening in 1998, Qingming Shanghe Garden has consistently followed the development policy of “reproducing a thousand-year historical scroll, building a national-quality scenic spot”. Through its grand scale, rich Song-culture content, unique ancient entertainment facilities, novel performances and brand-new leisure-resort concept, it has led the development of the Central Plains cultural tourism industry and created the much-praised “Qingming Shanghe Garden phenomenon”.

Over more than 20 years the garden has won many honors including China Tourism Famous Brand, National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, National 5A Tourist Attraction, China Top Ten Cultural Tourism Scenic Areas, World-influencing Chinese Tourism Culture Famous Brand and the Henan Provincial Governor Quality Award.

2. Requirement Analysis

Within the garden, the Great Song Parade Ground is surrounded by Song-style viewing platforms. To ensure safety, the load-bearing columns and main beams of the viewing platforms needed monitoring to prevent main-beam displacement from causing a hazard — eight points required displacement detection.

3. Project Solution

A 4G laser distance meter hardware acquisition solution is used. Because cabling was not possible on site, the laser distance meters are battery-powered, installed at eight points on the main beam and measuring downward to monitor whether the main beam position moves. Acquired data is transmitted to a platform over 4G for the customer to view.

4. Project Implementation

  1. Daq-IoT provides battery-powered laser distance meters to the customer.
  2. After receiving the devices, the customer cooperates with our technicians for installation; our technicians remotely configure the protocol gateway (see below).
