1. Project Background

The communication interface of the on-site instrument (electromagnetic water meter / flow meter) was occupied and could not be read remotely, but the LCD screen displays the values normally.

2. Project Requirements

For this Xinjiang project, two instruments needed both scheduled photography and manual triggering from a mobile App, with images uploaded to the customer’s own FTP server. A 220V power supply was available on site and the data could reach the public network.

3. Technical Solution

Because the project has an external power supply and public-network access, the solution uses our 8-megapixel 4G trigger-type photography camera together with the DAQ-IoT 4G trigger-type smart gateway. Principle: a relay signal from the 4G smart gateway connects to the camera’s trigger line, so a manual command issued from the App takes a photo. The gateway can also set an acquisition frequency to enable automatic photography.

4. Implementation Process

  1. Before shipping, we debug the gateway and camera and confirm the automatic-upload and manual-command-upload functions; once successful the devices are sent to the customer.
  2. After receiving the devices, the customer contacts our staff to configure the camera’s parameters and confirm the shooting angle and storage location. The camera mounting bracket must be ordered or custom-made by the customer according to the on-site environment.
  3. After installation, work with our staff remotely to debug the triggered-photography and timed-photography functions. When both work normally, the project implementation is complete.
